Even though the Senate confirmed Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, the battle over his place on the bench has not ended.
The sexual assault allegations that rocked his nomination just surfaced again.
That’s because Brett Kavanaugh is the subject of one lawsuit that he never expected.
When Christine Blasey Ford stepped forward to lob her false allegations that Kavanaugh attempted to sexually assault her at a party when the two were in high school, many in the fake news media assumed Kavanaugh’s guilt.
Kavanaugh was a “privileged” straight, white male that attended an elite prep school in the Washington, D.C. area.
That background represents everything the left hates.
After Blasey Ford went public, fake news media outlets began reporting at the supposed “culture” at prep schools for wealthy children as a way to attack what they see as white male dominated American culture.
As part of this crusade, the Huffington Post published a piece by former reporter Ashley Feinberg that alleged Derrick Evans and Douglas Kennedy – two former Georgetown Prep students – sold the cocaine that killed Robert F. Kennedy’s son.
Feinberg’s piece was part of an effort to portray Georgetown Prep – where Kavanaugh attended high school – as hiding a seedy underbelly of alcohol and drug abuse combined with toxic masculinity.
So-called “reporters” hoped that the combination of stories about the hard-partying ways of the boys at fancy prep schools would convince the American people Kavanaugh was guilty of trying to sexually assault Blasey Ford.
But this backfired.
Evans sued for defamation of character.
“These statements were not only false and defamatory, but outrageously so, and were published by defendants with knowledge of their actual falsity or in reckless disregard of the truth for the apparent purpose of creating a salacious story designed to drive internet traffic to HuffPost’s website,” the lawsuit argued.
Millions of Americans welcomed this lawsuit.
The fake news media and Democrats resorted to lies and smears to destroy Kavanaugh during his confirmation solely because of the issue of abortion.
Justice Anthony Kennedy – who Kavanaugh replaced – was a supporter of abortion on demand and authored the 1992 Planned Parenthood v. Casey decision that reaffirmed Roe.
If the left took down Kavanaugh they could use hoaxes and falsehoods as an effective veto over any future conservative Supreme Court nominee.
Just confirming Kavanaugh was not enough pushback in the eyes of many Americans.
They wanted to see the so-called “mainstream” media outlet that aided and abetted this character assassination held accountable.
Evans’ lawsuit is an important step in that effort.
During the Kavanaugh fight, journalists declared themselves participants in the Democrats’ crusade to bring down Kavanaugh.
Normal media tenants such as objectivity, skepticism and only reporting what the facts bore out were cast aside in favor of rumor, innuendo, and partisan cheerleading.
And it looks like at least one media outlet may pay a heavy price for this professional malpractice.
