Beto O’Rourke’s campaign for president is nothing short of a catastrophe.
The former Congressman who is best known for losing to Ted Cruz is working to salvage his campaign.
But in just 13 words, Beto saw things go from bad to worse.
Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke is a left-wing superstar.
Among the most famous Democratic candidates who ran and lost in 2018, Beto has since decided to take his losing bid for the U.S. Senate and replicate it nationwide.
And despite a strong rollout, his campaign has since begun to flounder.
The problems more or less began with Beto’s chronic inability to discuss actual policies while on the campaign trail.
In fact, his campaign website still doesn’t include a single tangible policy proposal, something which has begun to draw sharp criticism as he continues his campaign across the country.
Worse yet, Beto’s past is coming back to haunt him in a huge way.
His DUI from the 1990s, where he allegedly committed a hit and run before fleeing the scene, is sure to pose massive problems for him as he seeks the Democratic nomination.
Even more, Beto’s disturbing writings about murdering children by driving them over with a car have also recently come to light.
These new revelations have sent shockwaves through the Democratic Party and have shattered Beto’s reputation for being an easy-going nice guy who could simply cruise his way to the nomination.
In a bid to get his campaign back on track, Beto has decided to re-launch his campaign from his hometown of El Paso, Texas, where he had previously served as a member of Congress before losing to Ted Cruz in 2018.
Breitbart covers the event, “Former Rep. Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke (D-TX) on Saturday formally kicked off his 2020 presidential campaign, declaring at a rally in El Paso, Texas, that immigrants and asylum seekers make the border town safe.”
Beto elaborated more on his claim that El Paso was a safe city due to a massive influx of immigrants and refugees.
“With Ciudad Juarez we form the largest binational community in this hemisphere. And for 20 years running, we’ve been one of the safest cities in the United States of America,” the El Paso native declared. “We are safe not despite the fact that we are a city of immigrants and asylum seekers. We are safe because we are a city of immigrants and asylum seekers.”
This is laughable.
Ciudad Juárez is among the most violent, crime-ridden cities in the world.
Plagued by some of the worst aspects of the Mexican drug war, Juárez is notorious for the number of murders and disappearances that occur in the city and the surrounding area, with Juárez being ranked the #1 city in the world for murders back in 2008.
While crime has since gradually fallen, placing Juárez at the 37th spot in terms of murder capitals of the world, it almost certainly hasn’t been because of immigrants and asylum seekers as Beto is suggesting.
The decline in violent crime in the El Paso – Juárez region is because of a growing effort by Mexican police and government forces to combat the drug trade and root out local corruption.
