Beto O’Rourke made it official and threw his hat in the ring for president this week.
But the presidential candidate best known for losing to Ted Cruz has a massive skeleton in his closet.
He never believed this betrayal of Nancy Pelosi would come back to haunt him.
Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke made it official this past week when he decided to enter the race for president.
The former Congressman from Texas made headlines across the country when he challenged Ted Cruz in the 2018 midterm elections.
Despite ultimately losing to Cruz, Beto ended up becoming something of a superstar within the Democratic Party.
And he’s used his name ID and fundraising prowess to take a shot at the Democratic nomination for president.
But Beto has a massive problem.
And it’s one that could rival his DUI arrest from 1998, or even his murder fantasy writings about running over children with a car.
That problem is Nancy Pelosi.
Before Beto ran for U.S. Senate, he was a member of Congress for El Paso.
And Beto crossed Nancy Pelosi one too many times while in D.C.
The Daily Caller reports, “House Speaker Nancy Pelosi probably remembers when former Democratic Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke didn’t support her bid for minority leader in 2016, which might be why she can’t recall any of his accomplishments.”
While Pelosi has some flowery language to use for Beto’s entry into the presidential nomination contest, she couldn’t name a single thing he had done in Congress to explain why he should become President of the United States.
“Beto brought vitality to the Congress. One of the issues in his—I haven’t been asked this question. I just know of his record here. When he came, he came as a real champion for the environment. He got a great deal of support from the environmental community in his district,” Pelosi stated.
“He won his primary on that subject and he’s also on the Armed Services Committee a strong member of the Armed Services Committee, which is very important in his district—preserving our planet and protecting our people.”
Beto was first elected to Congress after primarying an eight-term Democratic incumbent in 2012.
He ended up making enemies with some of the Democratic leadership while doing so.
Then in 2016, after Donald Trump won the presidential election against Hillary Clinton in a stunning upset, Beto tried to stage a coup against Pelosi and the rest of the Democratic leadership.
“After three years of being a member of Congress, O’Rourke became frustrated with the limitations of being a member in the minority and joined with Democratic Ohio Rep. Tim Ryan and other House Democrats after the 2016 election of Donald Trump to remove Pelosi as minority leader,” adds the Daily Caller.
Ryan lost the bid against Pelosi, but he won over 60 votes in the process.
