House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes sent shockwaves through Washington with an interview on Fox News.
Nunes discussed the FBI deploying a spy to infiltrate the Trump campaign.
And all hell is breaking loose because of what Nunes said.
Nunes appeared on Maria Bartiromo’s program and blasted the FBI for unleashing a spy on Trump associates in order to entrap them into collusion.
The House Intelligence Chairman declared this was a red line and stated the Deep State conspiracy was over if it was proven that the spy paid Trump associates as a means to implant himself in the campaign.
“Sunday on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) said if the reports of a potential FBI informant in the 2016 presidential campaign of President Donald Trump were true that is an “absolute red line.”
Nunes said, “If any of that is true, if they ran a spy ring or informant ring and paying people within the Trump campaign — if any of that is true, that is an absolute red line.”
He continued, “If they paid someone, it’s an absolute red line, and this is over with. I don’t know how to say this. There is no possible way that we should be allowing — even if it was legal, we should never allow this in this country. Congress should not allow for anything like this to ever occur again to any political campaign if it in fact happened. This is why I’ll say again all they have to do is provide us documentation.”
He added, “What I’m saying when I say it’s over is this whole thing is a scam. There is real abuse here.”
Nunes was reacting to reports that the alleged spy – Cambridge professor Stefan Halper – paid Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos $3,000 to write a paper on energy issues that had nothing to do with Russia or the campaign.
This is a common tactic when spies recruit sources.
The spy will pay a target for perfectly legal work unconnected to the true nature of the spy’s mission in order to build trust and a relationship.
Donald Trump reacted to this development with anger as well.
The President tweeted that he would demand the Justice Department investigate this politically motivated spying.
I hereby demand, and will do so officially tomorrow, that the Department of Justice look into whether or not the FBI/DOJ infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for Political Purposes – and if any such demands or requests were made by people within the Obama Administration!

The Justice Department responded by announcing that Inspector General Michael Horowitz would investigate these serious allegations.
