Despite winning the House in convincing fashion last November, it’s been a rough few months for the Democrats.
And just when you’d think they couldn’t take anymore…
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently made comments that sent Pelosi into a rage.
Now, you’ve got to understand that the Democrat party is splitting apart right in front of our eyes.
There’s an old guard of “establishment” Democrats—Democrats whose policies aren’t all that great for the country but are considered moderate—and a new guard of radical Democrats who want to turn the United States into Cuba.
Leading the moderates is none other than Nancy Pelosi.
And the de-facto leader of the radical Democrats is none other than Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Since Cortez moved to DC in November, she’s been running at the speed of a locomotive.
As one of the members of the Democratic Socialists of America, Ocasio-Cortez is trying to change the landscape of America.
Most notably was her Green New Deal that would put America on an increasingly totalitarian path.
And even though Pelosi is a liberal, she’s not nearly as radical as Ocasio-Cortez, which has created quite a bit of friction between them.
That friction only got worse after Ocasio-Cortez made accusations that Trump was running concentration camps at all his ICE detention centers.
This remark drew the ire of people on both sides of the aisle.
When asked about her comments, an obviously irritated Ocasio-Cortez said, “These members of Congress, they come to represent their districts and their point of view and they take responsibility for the statements that they make.”
Asking whether or not she’d spoken to Ocasio-Cortez about her incendiary remarks, Pelosi said, “I saw them on the news, but I haven’t spoken to her about that [yet].”
Pelosi realizes for as much as she detests Trump, she’s got to play a long game if she’s going to get Trump out of her way.
A wildcard Congresswoman like Ocasio-Cortez mucking about could damage her ability to advance any kind of impeachment proceedings against the President.
Which puts an interesting spin on things.
Even though Ocasio-Cortez is no friend to conservatives, the fact she’s been a rogue warrior since the day she arrived means she’s not there to make friends—and it seems to be helping the conservative cause.
Anytime Pelosi is frustrated, it throws her off course and prevents her from getting her agenda items finished.
As an aside, Ocasio-Cortez’s comments about detention centers being concentration camps has drawn some support on the left.
George Takei of Star Trek fame and a prominent leftist affirmed Ocasio-Cortez.
He tweeted, “I know what concentration camps are. I was inside two of them, in America. And yes, we are operating such camps again.”
