Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the new favorite politician of the far left.
But not every Democrat is onboard with her.
And that became painfully clear for Ocasio-Cortez this past week when she was betrayed by someone she least expected.
Since taking office, New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been a favorite of the far-left wing of the Democratic Party.
The self-described socialist has created her own cult of personality within the Democratic Party that rivals even that of Barack Obama.
But there’s still many Democrats who remain her bitter enemy.
Ocasio-Cortez came onto the scene in the first place after defeated a long-time Democratic establishment politician in a shocking primary upset.
She’s left many within her party angry with her like never before.
And after her latest round of attacks on Nancy Pelosi, she may have just crossed a line that could lead to all-out warfare within the party.
Fox News reports, “House Democrats and their aides are quickly losing patience with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez over her office’s nonstop sparring with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other long-serving members, suggesting the speaker’s dismissive comments toward her may represent the view of a growing section of the caucus.”
This could be the big civil war within the Democratic Party that Americans had been expecting and waiting for.
And it seems the train has finally left the station with no way to turn it around or stop it.
The gloves are finally coming off between Ocasio-Cortez and Pelosi, and Democrats are scrambling to take sides.
“The last straw, for some, was the lawmaker’s claim that Pelosi was uniquely disrespectful to minority congresswomen. One senior lawmaker, who is black, scorched Ocasio-Cortez on Thursday for allegedly using the race card against the speaker, calling her comments ‘so inappropriate.’ Some lawmakers have even turned the tables, arguing that a group aligned with her is targeting black lawmakers for potential primary challenges in questioning those comments,” adds Fox News.
The attacks that Democrats siding with Pelosi are using against Ocasio-Cortez are also starting to sting, with one top Democratic aide calling her a “complete fraud”.
In response, Ocasio-Cortez and her allies in Congress and elsewhere are accusing Pelosi of racism towards her own party members.
The feud threatens to tear the Democratic Party apart like never before.
And it shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.
With Democrats at each other’s throats and attacking one another on Twitter, America is witnessing the most public inner-party fight in generations, and it could be even worse than the fight establishment Republicans put up to stop Donald Trump in 2016.
“Further, Democrats are bristling at the meddling of the Ocasio-Cortez-aligned Justice Democrats—a progressive group looking to primary Democratic members, some of whom are a part of the CBC,” adds Fox News.
“That organization entered the fray on Friday as well, firing back at an aide who had told The Hill Ocasio-Cortez is a ‘puppet’ and the group is funded by ‘white liberals.’”
The battle lines are being drawn in the sand. Only time will tell which side within the Democratic Party will emerge victorious.
