Adam Schiff wanted another fight with Donald Trump.
Schiff got exactly what he wanted.
But Adam Schiff had no idea what he got himself into with one fateful decision.
After Attorney General Merrick Garland ordered an FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago after a librarian at the National Archives complained that Trump claimed ownership over papers from his presidency Adam Schiff could not wait to pounce.
Schiff seized on reports that there were classified documents among the papers the FBI tactical team recovered to claim Trump was a criminal and a traitor.
In a letter to the Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, Schiff demanded the administration provide a damage assessment briefing to Congress.
The goal of this briefing was so Schiff could immediately run out of the room and leak cherry-picked data points to CNN to make it look like Trump compromised national security.
“We write to request an immediate review and damage assessment following reports that former President Trump removed and retained highly classified information at his personal residence at the Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida, in potential violation of the Presidential Records Act and laws protecting national security, including the Espionage Act,” Schiff’s letter stated.
Deep State leakers fed the Washington Post and New York Times unfounded allegations that Trump stole American nuclear secrets and kept them at his house.
“At least one report indicates that the FBI’s investigation focused in part on highly classified documents ‘relating to nuclear weapons,’ which are among our nation’s most closely guarded secrets,” the letter added. “If this report is true, it is hard to overstate the national security danger that could emanate from the reckless decision to remove and retain this material.”
There was one big problem with this whole story.
The intelligence community never delivered the classified briefing.
Byron York of the Washington Examiner reports:
“We have not been briefed” on the Trump matter, said one member of the House Intelligence Committee in a recent text exchange. “We didn’t get an answer,” said another member. “The committee has not received a briefing on Mar-a-Lago yet,” said another person familiar with the issue. On the Senate side, a member of the Intelligence Committee said, “I don’t think we ever got an assessment.”
York’s sources explained the obvious reason there was no damage assessment briefing — there were no nuclear secrets or any other political dynamite in the Trump documents and the whole thing was another fake scandal manufactured by the Deep State to make Donald Trump look bad.
“If there had been something significant it would have been briefed and leaked by now,” York’s source reported.
And just like in the Russian collusion hoax Adam Schiff happily played the part of useful idiot spreading the Deep State’s lies.
