Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is rising to the top of the Democrat Presidential polls.
But Bloomberg’s rise means intense scrutiny.
And that is bad news because this racist video of Michael Bloomberg will leave you speechless.
Bloomberg is skipping the debates and the early states and attempting to win the Democrat Party nomination through a one billion dollar TV ad campaign.
And for the moment Bloomberg’s strategy is bearing fruit.
Bloomberg so far has spent $300 million dollars on TV ads and is sitting at third place in national polls.
The former New York City Mayor is also attracting nearly 25 percent of the black vote which becomes a key number as six southern states with large black populations vote on Super Tuesday when Bloomberg puts his name on the ballot for the first time.
Bloomberg is saturating the air waves with TV ads to introduce himself on his own terms because Bloomberg’s horrific record would repel voters.
One aspect of Bloomberg’s record that raises red flags is his fanatical support for taking away Americans’ guns.
Bloomberg’s quest to confiscate guns puts him into conflict with appealing to black voters.
That’s because a video clip of Bloomberg speaking at the 2015 Aspen Institute surfaced where Bloomberg defended the controversial policy of “stop and frisk.”
The anti-gun Bloomberg ordered police officers to search New Yorkers without a warrant or probable cause in order to arrest gun owners.
In the clip, Bloomberg claimed “stop and frisk” was necessary to take guns away because Bloomberg claimed 95 percent of murder suspects in New York were black.
“Ninety-five percent of your murders — murderers and murder victims — fit one M.O. You can just take the description, Xerox it and pass it out to all the cops,” Bloomberg stated.
“They are male minorities, 16 to 25. That’s true in New York. That’s true in virtually every city,” Bloomberg added. “And that’s where the real crime is. You’ve got to get the guns out of the hands of the people that are getting killed.”
President Trump believes his economic record – which included the lowest unemployment rate for blacks in American history – provides an opening to appeal to black voters and sensed an opportunity to blast Bloomberg as a racist.
Bloomberg knew this clip threatened his rise with black voters and falsely claimed he tried to walk back his support for stop and frisk while still Mayor of New York.
“By the time I left office, I cut it back by 95%, but I should’ve done it faster and sooner. I regret that and I have apologized — and I have taken responsibility for taking too long to understand the impact it had on Black and Latino communities,” Bloomberg claimed.
The 95 percent decline Bloomberg claimed was highly misleading because Bloomberg expanded the practice of “stop and frisk” far beyond its original intent when he became Mayor.
This issue threatens Bloomberg on two fronts.
Bloomberg’s racist stereotyping of black men could dampen his support of black voters Bloomberg will need to win over in a primary and a general election.
Hillary Clinton lost Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin in part because black turnout levels declined from the Obama levels.
These comments make it hard to imagine black turnout would improve for Bloomberg.
Second, “stop and frisk” was Bloomberg’s way to jail gun owners.
Bloomberg’s anti-Second Amendment zealotry will isolate him from culturally conservative working class voters in Midwest states that flipped to Donald Trump in 2016.
So far Bloomberg has not faced any media scrutiny because his campaign walled him off from any campaign situation that required him to answer questions from voters, reporters or even other candidates.
But now Bloomberg will face scrutiny and Bloomberg will be tested on how he handles negative news.
