A top Democrat is facing a terrible crisis that he didn’t think was possible.
His political career is going down in flames.
A million Americans came together to destroy this terrible top Democrat’s career.
Not long ago, California’s Gov. Gavin Newsom was a rising star in the Democratic Party.
The 53-year-old was seen as a possible choice for president for 2024.
However, now Newsom will be lucky if he manages to hold onto his job.
Newsom mishandled the Covid crisis completely, locking down California more than any other state.
And while his policies were putting average citizens out of a job, Newsom was caught dining maskless indoors with friends at a restaurant that charges $1,200 per person.
The effort to recall Newsom reached 1.6 million verified signatures which means Newsom is facing a recall election.
“This now triggers the next phase of the recall process, a 30-business-day period in which voters may submit written requests to county Registrars of Voters to remove their names from the recall petition,” California Secretary of State Dr. Shirley N. Weber said. “A recall election will be held unless a sufficient number of signatures are withdrawn.”
Newsom, who banned indoor church services, said on Monday that the recall effort against him “threatens our values.”
“This Republican recall threatens our values and seeks to undo the important progress we’ve made — from fighting COVID, to helping struggling families, protecting our environment, and passing commonsense gun violence solutions,” Newsom wrote in a tweet. “There’s too much at stake.”
The video Newson linked to in his Twitter post said:
“Who’s behind the partisan recall of Governor Gavin Newsom? Anti-vaccine and QAnon extremists, violent white supremacists like the Proud Boys who attacked out nation’s Capitol on January 6,” a narrator of the video says. “And the same right-wing Republican politicians who supported Donald Trump‘s attempt to overturn the election.”
The only other California governor to face a recall election was Gray Davis in 2003. He failed to keep his office and was replaced by Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Schwarzenegger appeared Monday on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and said that anyone could win in a recall.
Several Republicans have already entered the race including reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner, former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and former gubernatorial candidate John Cox.
“Californians want better and deserve better from their governor. For too long, career politicians have over-promised and under-delivered. We need a leader with a vision and the resolve to see it through. This will be a campaign of solutions, providing a roadmap back to prosperity to turn this state around and finally clean up the damage Newsom has done to this state.” Jenner said after filing paperwork.
