Joe Biden’s campaign has floundered to an embarrassing halt that needs to be fixed.
But Obama’s heavy-handed involvement has only made things worse.
Barack Obama’s attack on Trump backfired horribly on Joe Biden’s campaign.
It’s quite obvious that Barack Obama is not overly enthusiastic about Joe Biden.
Despite the fact that Joe Biden is his former Vice President, Obama didn’t support him until every other candidate dropped out of the race.
The New York Times reported that according to close sources, Obama talked Joe Biden out of running in 2016.
The New York Times also reported that Obama summoned Joe Biden’s campaign to meet with him in March of 2019 because, “Win or lose, they needed to make sure Mr. Biden did not ‘embarrass himself’ or ‘damage his legacy’ during the campaign.”
This makes it clear that Obama wasn’t enthusiastic about Joe Biden being the nominee because he was afraid Biden would make him look bad.
But his own legacy is making things harder for Joe Biden at the moment.
Joe Biden is trying to make the case that Donald Trump is responsible for the economic slowdown that the Chinese coronavirus has caused.
According to the Washington Examiner:
In recent TV appearances, Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee, has also directly tied the coronavirus’s health ramifications to its economic damage, framing them as interconnected and blaming both of them on Trump.
“The administration’s failure to plan, to prepare, to honestly assess and communicate the threat to the nation led to catastrophic results,” said Biden in his plan to reopen the country amid the pandemic. “The American people have already paid too high a price in illness, death and economic loss.”
“When Joe Biden sounded the alarm about this outbreak, Donald Trump was downplaying the threat we faced and disregarding warnings about the most severe public health crisis in generations,” said Biden spokesman Andrew Bates.
“Now we have more coronavirus cases than any other country, and we’re losing jobs at an historic rate,” added Bates.
Joe Biden is running on Obama’s legacy, and what is that legacy?
Obama used up the stockpile of N95 masks to battle a virus less deadly than the flu, and wasted years of time and millions of dollars without adding a single ventilator.
On the economy, Obama didn’t do any better.
He doubled the national debt. In large part it was done through his economic stimulus package that was a funding of the Democrat wish list items rather than a strategic boost.
Joe Biden wasn’t sounding the alarm. He was worried about banning travel with China and spreading the lie that Trump cut CDC funding.
Joe Biden wasn’t calling for the widespread travel bans that would have made it impossible to keep the American economy open longer.
Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) sent a letter to the Trump administration on January 22nd urging them to close down travel with China which they did soon after.
Joe Biden did not see this coming.
Joe Biden’s history shows he’s failed the economic and medical challenges that he had opportunities to fix.
