Barack Obama is obsessed with Fox News.
But Obama’s hang up is not doing Obama or the Democrat Party any favors.
Barack Obama just picked a fight with Fox News that backfired in a big way.
Former President Obama cannot help but take potshots at Fox News.
In an interview with The 19th, Obama accused Fox News viewers of living in an alternate reality.
“I think a lot of that has to do with changes in how people get information,” Obama stated. “I’ve spoken about this before, but if you watch Fox News, you perceive a different reality than if you read The New York Times. And those differences have been amplified by social media, which allows people to live in bubbles with other people who think like them.”
This sentiment that Obama expressed is now commonplace on the left – especially in the corporate media.
Outlets like CNN routinely broadcast what Democrats say as “truth” and “facts” and that anyone who disagrees with the Democrats’ policies or political narratives lives in an alternate reality.
Obama cited social media as amplifying this trend as part of a broader call by the left for the ideological fellow travelers that run Big Tech firms to censor conservative speech.
The former president claimed Americans really didn’t disagree with the Democrats’ socialist agenda and without Fox News pumping up the culture war, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer could pass amnesty, a federal takeover of elections that would gut voter ID laws and mandate mail-in ballots in every state, massive new gun control, a bill to grant transgenders special rights, and union boss payoffs.
“America has been fractured by a combination of political, cultural, ideological and geographical divisions that seem to be deeper than just differences in policy,” Obama added.
But Obama expressed hope – based on nothing – that Joe Biden could wrangle Republicans into supporting his far-left agenda.
“But if anyone can help bridge our divides, it’s Joe Biden,” Obama continued. “He’s spent his life bringing people together. And as president, he’s been focused on beating back the pandemic and rebuilding our economy — ideas that Americans from both parties can support.”
Fox News served as a steady target of Obama’s for years.
During his two terms in office, Obama often complained that Fox News sabotaged his agenda by not following the rest of the corporate media’s worshipful coverage of Obama’s policies.
And when Obama endorsed Joe Biden for president, Obama took a shot at Fox News calling it a “propaganda network.”
“The other side has a massive war chest; the other side has a propaganda network with little regard for the truth,” Obama declared. “On the other hand, pandemics have a way of cutting through a lot of noise and spin to remind us of what is real and what is important. This crisis has reminded us that government matters. It has reminded us that good government matters, that facts and science matter, that the rule of law matters, that having leaders who are informed and honest and seek to bring people together rather than drive them apart, those kind of leaders matter. In other words, elections matter.”
