Barack Obama just can’t help himself.
Two years of having to hand off the reigns of the White House to Donald Trump, the former President has had to watch his legacy be wiped away slowly but surely by President Trump.
And now Obama is desperately trying to get his name back in the headlines with his pathetic claim.
Former President Barack Obama may be one of the saddest men in America.
The man swept into the White House in 2008 on a platform of “fundamentally transforming” the United States of America, only to see his legacy wiped away and thrown into the dustbin of history by President Trump, who ended up beating his chosen successor Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.
And now Obama has had to stand by and watch President Trump pick up where he left off, and take America in a completely different direction than the one Obama was hoping for.
Since leaving office, Obama has tried to keep his name in the headlines and make himself relevant.
And this latest laughable statement shows just how pathetic those attempts have been.
The Daily Caller reports, “Former President Barack Obama claimed at an event Tuesday that the “scale of tragedy” caused by global warming is unprecedented throughout history.”
“But what is indisputable is that the planet is getting warmer . . . and with the current pace we are on, the scale of tragedy that will consume humanity is something we have not seen in perhaps recorded history unless we do something about it,” Obama told the audience.
Obama then painted a doom and gloom picture of the future, where the oceans would rise several feet, and billions of people would move from the coastlines to land further inland, leaving cities around the world underwater.
“The alternative is that we will do very well now, but by the time serving my grandkids are the age of your children — I don’t have grandkids in by the way, but some projections forward — but within your children’s lifetime we can have a — a really chaotic situation that is hard to reverse,” Obama stated.
The fearmongering Obama is throwing out was just his latest attempt to keep his name relevant in an era when his legacy is being erased across the board.
But the only “scale of tragedy” he should be talking about is his own presidency, which saw the worst economic recovery in the history of the United States and a massive government intervention into the economy and America’s healthcare systems that made things even worse.
Obama doesn’t want to talk about that though.
Instead, he wants to harp on the same sort of rhetoric radical Democrats like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are using, who predicted the world would end in 12 years because of climate change.
Obama can’t do much else other than give speeches and complain about President Trump though.
He’s ineligible to ever run for president again.
