The rhetoric that Barack Obama is pushing is extremely dangerous.
He’s blaming millions of Americans for what happened.
Barack Obama had a horrifying response to the violence in the Capitol.
For months America has been plagued with violent protests.
Criminal behavior is not the way to express unhappiness with the American system.
The Constitution of America protects the freedom of Americans to peacefully protest, not perform random acts of violence.
Two police are in the hospital because of the protestors who broke into the Capitol on Wednesday.
However, the Republicans aren’t standing with the people who committed violence and the right-wing media isn’t describing it is as “mostly peaceful.”
Dan Bongino slammed the media for their hypocrisy when he spoke on Fox News with host Sean Hannity.
“We have roundly condemned the violence tonight on this network. Everyone, period. That’s it. Where was the media, Sean, when my Secret Service friends were calling me with a mob outside of the White House during the summer of protest who were genuinely in fear for the first time? I am not kidding. This is not a joke. I was on the receiving end of those calls,” Bongino said.
However, former President Barack Obama, who encouraged the protests and is proud that his daughters joined the Black Lives Matter protests over the summer, is blaming Republicans in general for the attack.
Obama began a statement released on Twitter that Trump incited the violence on Capitol Hill, but then went on to blame the Republican Party and “its accompanying media ecosystem” for saying that the election was stolen.
“Their fantasy narrative has spiraled further and further from reality, and it builds upon years of sown resentments,” Obama wrote. “Now we’re seeing the consequences, whipped up into a violent crescendo.”
Obama said that Republican leaders needed to “choose reality” and stop stoking the “raging fires” among their followers.
In contrast, after a BLM supporter killed five police officers in 2016, Obama said “I don’t think that you can hold well-meaning activists who are doing the right thing and peacefully protesting responsible for everything that is uttered at a protest site. This week people felt hurt and angry and so some of this is just venting, but I think that the overwhelming majority of people who are involved in the Black Lives Matter movement — what they really want to see is a better relationship between the police and the community so they can feel that it’s serving them.”
Obama’s language here is dangerous.
Many on the left have been encouraging their own side to violently protest and yet want to treat every single member of the Republican establishment as a criminal from now on.
America is in a dangerous place and it will be impossible for the violence to lessen if the Democrats choose to blame every Republican for what happened at the Capitol.
