Nancy Pelosi is facing an election that will define her legacy as speaker of the House.
The early signs point toward disaster.
And Nancy Pelosi heard two words that were serious bad news.
Two new polls underscore the danger facing Democrats.
Quinnipiac found just 35 percent of Americans approved of Joe Biden’s job as president.
CNBC showed only 38 percent of Americans approving of Biden.
The president’s job approval rating is always the leading indicator of how his party will perform in the midterm election.
Biden’s sickly approval numbers changed the talk of a red wave in November to a red tsunami.
Even some Democrats agreed with one party strategist telling The Hill that Democrats faced a “biblical disaster” in November.
“I think this is going to be a biblical disaster,” the strategist predicted. “This is the reality we are in as Democrats and no one wants to face it.”
Another Democrat strategist, Joel Payne, tried to claim Joe Biden’s failures resulted from being dealt a bad hand by Donald Trump.
“We are in a very chaotic moment right now,” Payne stated. “There’s COVID, Afghanistan was just last year, now there’s the war in Ukraine, and the economy is up or down depending on who you are. There is this general instability that sunk Donald Trump a mere 18 or 20 months ago, and it is now Joe Biden’s problem, Joe Biden’s challenge.”
But polls show that Americans blame Joe Biden’s socialist agenda for inflation and rising gas prices.
Joe Biden also campaigned as an experienced Washington hand that could restore normalcy to American politics.
But on Joe Biden’s watch Americans are still forced to wear masks on airplanes, the world sits at the brink of global thermonuclear war, a record number of illegal aliens invade the southern border, and inflation rose to a 41-year high.
The American people can objectively see that every aspect of life is worse because of Joe Biden and his disastrous policy agenda than it was under President Trump.
But some Democrats are still sticking their heads in the sand and blaming the American people for not understanding how good they have it under Joe Biden.
Democrat strategist Julie Roginsky claimed that Joe Biden’s problem isn’t a policy failure, it is that Joe Biden’s messaging failed to convince the American people they are living through a booming economy.
“The bad news is seeping through. It’s the good news — and there has been plenty of good news — that Democrats have done a poor job of messaging,” Roginsky told The Hill.
“You have to explain to voters in very real terms what you have done to help them,” Roginsky added. “When you use huge numbers like ‘a billion’ or ‘a trillion,’ that is something that voters just see as spending coming out of Washington.”
When inflation is up 8.5 percent the American people feel that every time they reach the register at the grocery store.
Joe Biden’s problem is not that the American people don’t understand how good they have it.
Joe Biden’s problem is that the American people understand just how spectacularly Biden failed.
And Biden’s disastrous approval ratings threaten to wipe out Democrats up and down the ballot this November.
