President Trump is the kingmaker inside the Republican Party.
Trump is likely going to pick the 2028 GOP Presidential ticket.
And all hell broke loose when Trump dropped this massive 2028 endorsement.
TKO CEO Ari Emmanuel is former Obama chief of staff and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel’s brother.
Ari is a Hollywood power player who built on his career as an agent at William Morris to become CEO of TKO, which owns both the WWE and UFC.
This brought Emmanuel into a close relationship with President Trump.
In an interview with MS NOW’s Rachel Maddow at New York’s 92Y, Emmanuel divulged that he recently spoke privately with Trump, where Trump endorsed the idea of a Vance-Rubio ticket for 2028.
“I spoke to him three weeks ago,” Emmanuel stated. “And in that conversation… He thought JD and Marco Rubio would be a formidable group.”
Maddow asked if that meant Vice President JD Vance at the top of the ticket with Rubio as the running mate.
“Yes,” Emanuel added. “That’s what he thought.”
This served as just the latest confirmation that Trump is planning to foil the establishment’s hope of restoring the Bush-era GOP in 2028 by endorsing Vance as his successor.
Trump is clearly excited by the idea of a Vance-Rubio ticket.
“I like them both,” Trump told New York Post columnist Miranda Devine on her Pod Force One podcast, “And I like them together.”
“I don’t know how you beat them if they’re together,” Trump added. “That would be a great team.”
Members of the press and GOP establishment analyzed all of Trump’s statements and body language about Vance and Rubio, thinking Trump was running some kind of Apprentice-style audition, playing the two off each other to see which would rise as his successor.
In reality, Trump was sizing them up, but as a ticket for 2028.
“I watch them all the time, you know,” he said. “I study them as they’re with each other. I find it very interesting,” Trump added.
Many in the establishment hoped Rubio would challenge Vance.
Rubio has repeatedly said he has no intention of doing so.
And Trump made it clear he has settled on endorsing Vance in 2028.
“President Donald Trump recently told donors in private that he wants to see his vice president win the 2028 presidential election — a sign that he is open to publicly backing JD Vance, even as some advisers caution that Trump has yet to settle firmly on a successor.
“At the end of the day, we need to elect JD,” Trump said during an Oval Office meeting with donors roughly two weeks ago, according to two people with knowledge of the comments who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter, the Washington Post reports.
If Trump endorses a Vance-Rubio ticket for 2028, that will turn the GOP primary into a mere formality, and the process will look more like a coronation than a competitive contest since Republican voters will be looking for who can best build on Trump’s legacy.
